A self-taught video editor, my strength lies in knowing how to tell the right story for the audience with whom I wish to engage. I search out best practices and apply them to my work in video production. The video production process appeals to me because it requires both creativity and attention to detail.
StorytellingWhen I became involved with this project, most of the video had been shot. The audio was inconsistent, so I recommended that the story be told with a voiceover. I re-wrote the script based on the video that was available and created a slapstick theme to add humor and to embrace the homemade quality of the video. The video was presented at a fundraiser where we raised more than enough funds to purchase the new school furniture.

Authenticity This video was made with a Flip camera. It's purpose was to recreate the authentic experience of one of the school festivals. The Lantern Walk takes place in the evening with students and their parents singing songs and carrying homemade lanterns to light their way in the dark.
The simplicity captures only the glow of candlelight with the sound of children's and parents' voices, laughing and singing. |
EngagementWhile some learners/users prefer to read, it helps to offer other means of engaging with materials. Below is a video of animated text to explain to Brandeis students the relevance of an eportfolio as a means to display their course work.
To expedite the process, I used an online animation tool, called Animaker. I then added the Brandeis logo and trimmed it in Premiere Pro. |
